What is a Teaser Trailer? - Insidious Chapter 3
Insidious Chapter 3 Teaser Trailer
Throughout the teaser trailer sound is used to create suspense. The use of the non-diegetic sound is effective as it goes from a upbeat tempo when the characters are not in danger to a well know spooky song when the paranormal activities begin.
The use of low key lighting leaves the audience on the edge of their seat waiting to see whether something will jump out from the darkness. This creates a fear of the unknown for the audience and creates tension in the trailer. I think this is good as it keeps the audience engrossed in the trailer and gives them a thrill which they will then expect in the film.
The font is clear to read which allows the audience to find out the title of the film without having to focus to much. Although the font is clear and simple I think its fitting for the genre of the film as the screen is black and the writing is either white or red in the trailer. The are colours that can be easily seen but give the writing a spooky feel.
By showing the characters life before the event in a positive light and seeing when the paranormal activities begin it creates a real life feel to the abnormal scenario that the character is presented with. This use of verisimilitude puts the audience in the situation of the character and allows them to put themselves in her shoes consequently increasing the intensity.
The use of the mobile phone as a prop allows the audience to find out information they wouldn't otherwise know. They see that the boy isn't tapping on the wall leaving the audience to wonder who is. This use of a prop's is effective as it allows the audience to find out information at the same time as the character, as well as finding out information that they wouldn't know without the use of this prop.
The main character is young and incapacitated due to her injury. This puts the character in danger as she meets the stereotype of a vulnerable person. This creates a relationship between the character and the audience, leaving the audience routing for this vulnerable character.

What is a Teaser Trailer? - Spectre
Spectre Teaser Trailer
We firstly see an establishing shot of the city that the film takes place in. This allows the audience to establish where the film is taking place easily. We then see a close up of a file. The women says that this file is from Skyfall. This instantly, allows the audience to know that the film is in the James Bond series and makes fans aware that they are watching a James Bond trailer without them even seeing James Bond or the title of the film.
The use of low key lighting allows us to not be able to identify who the shadowed figures are. This leaves the audience feeling like they need to know who these people are. It also creates a dark feel to the figures making the audience feel that these people are on the side we are not supporting.
I think the editing of this teaser trailer is effective as it fades in and out of different clips. This allows the audience to see different parts of the movie whilst it not being choppy and inconsistent. I think editing of trailers reflect on how the editing will be in the film therefore, i think this shows that the movies editing will match up to this high standard.
The use of non-diegetic sound through the well known James Bond theme tune is effective as it means that the audience instantly think of James Bond when they hear the music.

What is a Teaser Trailer - Zoolander 2
Zoolander 2 Teaser Trailer
The Zoolander 2 trailer begins with a black screen and leads to Stephen Hawkins voice ( the well know physicist ) talking the audience through how the human brain came to be so clever. This is a effective use of non-diegetic sound as Stephen Hawkins computer generated voice is distinctive and well known by everyone. This therefore, leads us to believe this is going to be an educational film until Zoolander appears on the screen and is his usual stupid self.
The use of costume successfully portrays the characters fashion sense and shows that he is a typical wannabe from the fashion industry. This is due to his outfit being out there and not something you'd see people wearing in everyday life.
Zoolander's established pose is used in the trailer to create humour and shows to the audience instantly that it is the character Zoolander. This also shows that the film's genre is comedy and creates Zoolander as a character who is not taking seriously and laughed at. This stupidity of Zoolander is then reinforced when they look at the different ways Zoolander 2 can be written.
The font is clear and bold and I think fits with the overall feel of the trailer. I think it is important that the font is large and clear so that all of the relevant information is easily given to the audience.
As Zoolander is a comedy, i think it is important that this comes across in the teaser trailer and that the audience find the teaser trailer funny as this will depend whether they go and see the film. I think this is done well as we can see the juxtaposition of one of the smartest men and Zoolander who considered extremely dumb creating him as a humorous character.
Lastly, we see the social media links for Zoolander 2, I think this is a good part of the teaser trailer as it means that anyone who wants to search the film can do and can easily find the film online. This advertises the film and allows the audience to show what their views on Zoolander 2.As Zoolander is a comedy, i think it is important that this comes across in the teaser trailer and that the audience find the teaser trailer funny as this will depend whether they go and see the film.
